Obituary of Anne B. Sargalis
Anne B. Moras Sargalis, 91, a former Amsterdam resident, and most recently of Schenectady, passed away peacefully Sunday at the Pathways in Schenectady.
Born in Hagaman, NY on November 21, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Helen Dudas Moros, who emigrated from Lithuania and she was educated locally. She worked as a maid at the former Rupsis Grill in Amsterdam and later in laundry service at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home until she retired in 2001. Anne was a parishioner of the former St. Casimir's R.C. Church and also St. Mary's. She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and was involved in many religious affiliations including The Living Rosary Society at St. Casimir's and its Seniors and Ladies Auxiliary, the Third Order Of St. Francis Secular, Padre Pio Prayer Group and St. Anthony's Auxiliary all at St. Michael's Church, Kateri Tekawitha League, Columbiettes of Council 209, St. Mary's Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters Of The Americas Court 732 and the Mount Loretto Auxiliary. Anne also was active at one time with the American Legion Auxiliary and the Montgomery Co. Democratic Club.
On Nov. 12, 1942, in St. Stephen's Church in Hagaman she was united in marriage to Waldon James Sargalis who predeceased her on June 5, 1989. Her brothers John Moros and Ralph Morris and her daughter in law Kathryn Dence Sargalis also predeceased her.
Her loving family includes her children; Richard J. Sargalis of Glenville, James Anne Sargalis of Broadalbin, NY, Mary Ann Gary Ordon of Saratoga Springs NY, Michael J. Brenda Sargalis of Niskayuna NY and Edward J. Sargalis of Schenectady; her brother Leo Rose Morris of Hagaman, and a sister in law Ann Morris of Scotia; grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The Mass Of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main St. Amsterdam by Fr. John Medwid. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at St. Mary's Church chapel. The family has requested no flowers or memorials, however in Anne's spirit of giving, please have a mass or memorial offered at your own place of worship in honor of any loved one you may have. Anne's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam.
