Obituary of Anne B. Jaffe
Anne B. Jaffe passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at her home in Hagaman. She was born the only child of the late Natalie Turkus and Joseph Blaine. Ms. Jaffe grew up in Brooklyn, NY, graduating from Erasmus Hall High, then Brooklyn College with a Bachelor's Degree in Art and a Master's of Science Degree in Education. She taught at PS 11 on Washington Avenue in Brooklyn, NY until she wed Arnold Jaffe in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1960. They made their home in Amsterdam, NY. She opened and managed the Fownes Bros. Factory Store in Amsterdam for 15 years before retiring in Hagaman, NY.
She leaves behind her husband, Arnold Jaffe, and two daughters Alice Scott Israel and Anita Stan Horton. She is also survived by two grandsons, Joel and Nathan.
A free- spirited intellectual and artist, fiercely compassionate and ahead of her time, she will be greatly missed.
Cremation will take place at Vale Cemetery Crematorium. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010.
