Obituary of William S. Tuchorski

William S. Tuchorski, 90, of Woodrow Road, Amsterdam, died on Wednesday, August 23, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Albany following a short illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on October 9, 1920 he was the son of the late John and Victoria Zakrzewski Tuchorski. A lifelong area resident, Bill was the owner and operator of Tuchorski Warehouse. He also worked for a time for Noteworthy until his retirement. Bill was of the Roman Catholic faith, and a member of St. Stanislaus' Church. In January of 1942, during WWII he joined the United States Army Air Corps. and proudly served until his discharge in 1945 at the rank of Sergeant. During his tenure with the Army, he was awarded the American Service Medal, European- African- Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal; as well as receiving trained and a radar operator. Bill was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 701. Survivors include his wife Ann M. Farina; a step son, Frank V. Farina and his wife Rosalie of Fultonville, NY; a sister, Jean Ferraro of Malta, NY; sisters-in-law, Carol Tuchorski and Evelyn Tucker of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, James R. Farina, Peter M. Farina, Michael Weil, Karen Weil, Thomas Weil; good friends, Norman and Maryann Marcotte; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Leonard and Henry; and sisters, Sophie, Jessie, Irene and Helen. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 8:15a.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15a.m. at St. Stanislaus' Roman Catholic Church, Cornell Street, Amsterdam. Interment with military honors will take place in St. John's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call this evening, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in his name made be made to the church.
