Obituary of Angeline P. Sculco

Angeline P. "Angie" Sculco, 98, formerly of Tremont Avenue, Amsterdam passed away peacefully on August 24, 2011 at Albany Medical Center. She was born August 18, 1913 in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Antonio and Gloria Squillace Sculco. Angie was a resident of Hillcrest Spring Residential Home for one year. Angeline was a life time resident of the area and attended local schools. She worked as a glove maker at Crescendoe Gloves in Gloversville for a number of years and later worked at Gates & Mills in Gloversville, as a shipping clerk, until her retirement in 1980. Angeline was a very independent woman. She drove her own car until she was 96 years old. She also enjoyed gardening and was a parishioner of the former St. Michael's the Arch Angel Catholic Church and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Melillo of Amsterdam, a nephew Anthony Sculco, Sr., a niece Philomena Sculco, great nephews Frank and Anthony Sculco and Thomas Minnitti; great nieces Dr. Deborah Sculco, Michelle Dorr, Kimberly Agresta, Gloria Sampson, Mary Slater and Victoria Minnitti. Several great great nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents Antonio and Gloria Sculco, she is predeceased by her sister Filomena Minnitti and brothers Frank and Joseph Sculco. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 10:15 AM at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John Street, Amsterdam, at 11:15 AM with the Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. A calling hour will precede the funeral service beginning at 9 AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ft. Johnson. Contributions in Angeline's memory may be made to Hillcrest Spring Activities Fund or to a charity of ones choice in care of the funeral home office.
