Obituary of Duane R. Simek

Duane R. Simek, age 45, of Amsterdam, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. He was born December 8, 1972 in Gloversville, the son of Gary and Janet Simek. He attended Gloversville schools and was later employed by several leather finishing companies including Fashion Tanning. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing with his companion Karl. Duane is survived by two daughters, Amanda L. Simek of Northville and Taylor Simek of Johnstown; his mother, Janet Simek of Gloversville; a brother, Eric Simek Sr. of Gloversville; four grandchildren, Mason Allen, Hannah Allen, Adrianne Allen and Liam Finley and two nephews, Eric Simek Jr. and Brenden Simek. He was predeceased by his father, Gary Simek . A celebration of life will take place later this year. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Regional Animal Shelter, PO Box 1274, Gloversville, NY, 12078. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
