Obituary of Kathleen E. Prime
Kathleen (Babe) E. Prime, 96, of Fultonville, NY, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side.
Born on January 22, 1928, in Montpelier, VT to the late John and Rachel (Lamell) Stevens, Kathleen grew up in Vermont until she moved to Johnstown, NY in 1954. She began working for Premier Glove in Gloversville, where she was employed for six years. After, Kathleen began her career with the United States Postal Service. She worked at many different USPS branches including Gloversville, Broadalbin, Fort Johnson, and Fonda, where she retired from after 20 years of employment.
Kathleen was married to the love of her life, Lyman E. Prime, on May 26, 1972. They spent over 50 years together before his passing on June 26, 2022.
After her retirement, Kathleen and Lyman moved to St Augustine Florida where they lived for 35 years. During their time together in Florida, they loved to ride bikes, go on long walks by the beach, and enjoyed over 20 cruises. The couple moved back to New York in 2020.
Kathleen enjoyed cooking and baking. She was also an excellent seamstress, enjoyed shopping, flea markets, and crafting. More than anything, she adored spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Lyman Prime; parents John and Rachel Stevens; grandson Danny Stevens; brother Lawrence Stevens; and sister Barbara Grosse.
Kathleen is survived by her children Daniel L. (Shirley) Stevens of Glen, Marilyn A. (Thomas) Simek of Johnstown, Linda J. (Robert) Decker of Amsterdam, and Kate (Jim) Reynolds of Fonda; stepchildren Wade L. (Pat) Prime of Johnstown and Malia (Alen) Rose of Fonda; sister Judith Krona of Fort Johnson; grandchildren Denise Jones, Reginald and Jeanette Simek, Joseph (Anne) Ricci, Rachel (Rodd) Hicks, Jason Ricci, Robert Decker, Joshua Heroth, Roy (Shawna) Heroth, Kayla Heroth, Krystal (Marge) VanAlstyne, Jean (Richie) Putman, Linsay (Joe) Miller, Amanda Traynor, Lukas Prime, and Jade (Chris) Dingman; many great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to nurse aids Summer, Pat, and Stacy, as well as Mountain Valley Hospice for the care they showed Kathleen during her time of need.
Kathleen will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Lyman on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11am in Evergreen Cemetery, 296 Martin Rd, Fonda, NY 12068.
