Obituary of Joyce Elaine Kirby

Joyce Elaine (Hasbrouck) Kirby was born July 25, 1944, in Gloversville, NY and was called to the Lord on May 6, 2024. She attended Gloversville High School and worked at Liberty Enterprises of Amsterdam and Lexington Center in Johnstown, NY.

In 1999, Joyce moved to Schenectady, NY. She enjoyed going to the Colonie Center Mall to watch a movie or to eat at the snack bar. She also enjoyed going to Central Park and to the Dairy Queen restaurant on Central Avenue and to Collins Park in Scotia. In February 2022, she moved to the River Ridge Living Center, Amsterdam, where she met her best friends Sharon and Barbara. She enjoyed her time there, making friends with both the staff and the residents of the facility.

Joyce’s late spouse Alvino Ray Kirby Sr. was born in Salem, North Carolina and died June 25, 1979. Her deceased parents are Mr. Raymond Freeman Hasbrouck and Mrs. Ozella (Mandeville) Hasbrouck. Her deceased brothers are Raymond F. Hasbrouck, Gene Moe Hasbrouck, and Ronald Curtis Hasbrouck.

Joyce is survived by her five children, Kevin M. Hasbrouck and her daughter-in-law Rosa Quinones-Hasbrouck of Las Vegas, Nevada, Alvino Ray Kirby Jr. of Las Vegas Nevada, Anna Marie Kirby of Johnstown, NY, Adrian Michael Kirby of Gloversville, NY and Lisa Lee Benton of Gloversville, NY. Her brother is Harry Arthur Hasbrouck of Gloversville, NY. Her surviving grandchildren are Marissa Anne Fox of Rochester, NY, Terrance James Fox of Menands, NY, Gabrielle Kirby Thomas of Schenectady, NY, Kevin M. Hasbrouck Jr. and granddaughter-in-law Alexis Hasbrouck of Las Vegas, Nevada, Elijah Hasbrouck of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Carmen M. Hasbrouck (Devin Herron) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mistia Kirby, Mironda Bowman, Brandon Benton, Joseph Benton, Carlos Gorman, Audrianna Hardy and Jonathan Kirby. Additionally, she has four great-grandchildren: Elijah Hasbrouck Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Aliyah Hasbrouck of Las Vegas, Nevada, Emani Herron of Las Vegas Nevada, and Olive Ozella Hasbrouck of Las Vegas, Nevada; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private service will take place at the convenience of the family at Peoples A.M.E. Zion Church, Gloversville, with Pastor Robert Linder officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
