Obituary of John P. Frederick

John P. Frederick, age 89, of Gloversville, died Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, after a short illness.

He was born May 13, 1934, in Gloversville, the son of Chancy and Iva (Webster) Frederick. He served in the US Army and was later employed by Crocetta Gloves, Gates Mills, and for many years at Treher & Jung Inc. For many years he was a substitute teacher in the Gloversville area. He was a scoutmaster for troop #7 at Fremont Street United Methodist Church for 20 years. Following his retirement, he was active at the Shirley J. Luck Senior Center, Johnstown.

John is survived by a son, Matthew, and his wife Joanna Frederick of Ballston Spa; two grandchildren, Lillian and Samuel Frederick, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 21 years, Cora (Brown) Frederick; a sister, Shirley Taylor, and a brother, Webster Frederick.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 am Monday, April 29th at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will follow at 11 am with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
