Obituary of Nikola Majstorovic

                                                                    A SACRED HOMECOMING

Nikola Majstorovic departed this life on Thursday, March 21, 2024, peacefully after suffering a massive heart attack.

Nikola was born on December 5th, 1963, to Zivorad and Rosa Majstorovic in Munich Germany.  Upon graduating from High School in Munich Germany, he worked as a Graphic Designer and sometimes assisted in his family’s restaurant, until coming to America in 1993.

On February 1, 1994, Nikola married Sylvia P. Barnes a receptionist, in New Yor City, NY. Their love story began while they worked on a play at the Bacca Theatre in Brooklyn Heights, NY. He was the lighting Director, and she was the costume/makeup Designer. The production team was from around the world. This is where Nikola and Sylvia shared their 1st cup of “Japanese Sencha Green Tea”.

Nikola then worked at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Graduate School for 22 years, as an IT Technician to Doctor/Scientist/Administration. In 2009, Nikola & his wife purchased a home upstate in Fultonville, New York—he continued to commute to NYC until 2018, when he resigned.

In 2019, Nick worked for Ricoh, USA as a Field Specialist 1—Advanced Industrial Printing, until his passing. He was very dedicated to his job and his teammates. He believed in hard work and getting the job done with precision. He celebrated five years with the company on February 11, 2024.

Nikola enjoyed building his own iron stoves; thanks to his Grandad, a coal miner in Serbia (early 1900’s) (that used COAL), riding on his tractor cutting grass, clearing snow, listening to smooth jazz and designing on his computer. He also played guitar with an R&B band in NYC, and he loved politics. The nature of upstate brought him peace and his love for our “FURRY—Babygirl—“Sahara”…she is our child. His love for Jazz and Rock; Frank Zappa, Jimmy Hendrix & Carlos Santana, was major.  On his 60^th birthday, Nikola & Sylvia shared their last cup of Japanese Sencha Green Tea, in Saratoga, NY.  Their love of music was the biggest thread to their hearts.

Ultimately, he designed a multi-faceted harmonic method for playing piano keyboards. He engineered, designed and built a complex keyboard protype which he worked on for over 10 years. His creation would allow everyone to play piano without having to remember hundreds of chord fingering techniques. He believed playing piano was too complicated and wanted to introduce a simpler version of playing piano.

Nikola was predeceased by his parents; Zivorad Majstorovic and Rosa Majstorvic. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia P Barnes; sister, Natalia Majstorovic; nephew, Luca Majstorovic; three Sister in Laws; Millicent Hagans, Jacqueline Pugh, Gloria Barnes-Jenkins; his Furry Daughter, SAHARA; cousins, family and friends.

Nikola or Nick – your everlasting spirit of warmth and kindness as a gentle, quiet genius and a beautiful (old soul) will continue to warm our hearts when we say your name.  We will always honor your connection to nature and the “power of intuition”.

Calling hours for Nikola will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 4pm until 7, funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3^rd at 11am with Fr. Juanito Asprec officiating, both will be held at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Aprill 11^th, 2024 at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville.
