Obituary of Joann Samrov

Joann Samrov, age 75, of Gloversville, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Florida.

She was born January 21, 1949, in Gloversville, the daughter of Donald and Jennie (Clark) Sprung. She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1967 and was later employed at Fulmont News in Amsterdam.

She also worked as the attendance clerk at Gloversville High School for many years until her retirement.

She spent time as the president and as a member of the Gloversville Enlarged School District PTA and as a board member for The Glove Theatre Corporation. At times, Joann was the president and secretary. Along with Richard, Joann worked to revive the theater and the theater’s museum over the past 25 years.

Joann is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard J. Samrov; their two sons, Adam (and daughter-in-law Cassandra) and Eric (and daughter-in-law Jacqueline), along with her granddaughter Avery. She is also survived by her sisters Janice Baumgartel, Donna Sprung and brother Dan Sprung.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother David, and a sister, Janet.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21st at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Joyce Royal officiating. Interment will follow at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown.
