Obituary of Danny Anagnost

Danny Anagnost, 93, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 9, 1931, to Theodore and Vassliki Anagnost. The family then relocated to Gloversville, NY where Danny was a life-long resident. Danny graduated from Gloversville High School in 1949 and went on to work for the Fulton County Highway Department until his retirement in 1993. Danny met his future wife, Panagiota (Pat), in 1961 and they were married in 1962.

Danny was very quick-witted and will be remembered for his perfectly timed one-liners and quips. Danny was a member of the Sts. Theodoroi and St. Sophia Greek Orthodox churches, in Gloversville and Albany, respectively, for his entire life and was a devoted caretaker of the church in Gloversville.

Danny was predeceased by his daughter, Bessie, who was born and passed away in 1963, and his nephew and Godson, Theodoros Brotsis, who passed away in 2021. Danny is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Panagiota, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kosta and Christina Brotsis of Johnstown; his nieces Panagiota (Stephen) Deffigos of Freehold, NJ, Christianna Brotsis of Lorton, VA, and Anastasia (Anastasios) Gouvitsas of Latham, NY.  Danny is also survived by his cousin John (Katerina) Angelis and family from Newburgh, NY and by his sisters in law and brothers in law Georgia Konstantopoulos, Ellias (Eftihia) Roumbas, Niki Roumbas, Eleni Roumbas, Soula Roumbas, Eleni (Nick) Papamichael, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews in NJ, VA, NY and Canada.

Visitation and Trisagion service will be held at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & and Stewart Funeral Homes at 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, on Friday, March 15 from 5-6pm.  The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Fr. Patric Legato at Sts. Theodoroi Greek Orthodox Church at 70

Washington St., Gloverville at 1pm on Saturday, March 16.

Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
