Obituary of Karen Mullarkey

Karen A. Mullarkey, 66, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 15^th, 2024, at Albany Medical Center.

She was born on January 4^th, 1958, in Boston, MA to the late Joseph and Joanne (Wojcik) Mullarkey Sr. Karen’s family moved frequently when she was young due to her father being in the Navy. In 1971, they moved to Amsterdam where Karen graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School with the class of 1976.

After graduation, Karen attended Fulton Montgomery Community College to earn an associate degree in business. She was most recently employed as an office manager at James McGuinness & Associates in Schenectady, where she worked for 40 years.

Karen was a homebody and enjoyed spending her time baking for her family. She especially loved to bake and decorate cakes.

She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Joanne Mullarkey Sr.

Karen is survived by her brothers Joseph (Patty) Mullarkey Jr and James Mullarkey; several nieces and nephews; and her two beloved cats.

A service of remembrance will be held for Karen at 11am on Friday, February 23rd , 2024, at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Family and friends are invited to call prior to the service from 10am to 11am. Following the service, Karen will be laid to rest next to her parents in St Stanislaus Cemetery.
