Obituary of Yvon E. Duquette
Fonda- Yvon E. "Duke" Duquette, 80, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at his Fonda home with his family by his side. Duke was a devoted family man and role model to his children.
Duke was born September 16, 1943, in Barre, VT, to Mathias and Lydia (Gosselin) Duquette. In 1963, he graduated from Champlain College with a Business degree and enlisted in the US Army Reserve in 1964. He served his country until his honorable discharge in 1970.
Duke married Lorette (Laura) LaRoe on September 4, 1965. The two were lifelong companions and best friends. They were blessed with two children: Christopher and Michele.
Duke was employed by General Electric in Schenectady for 30 years as a CNC Machinist and then as an Assembler in steam turbine. He remained a lifetime member of the IUE-CWA Local 301.
He was an avid golfer and a member of several area golf leagues over the years. He also enjoyed bowling, a good card game and spending time with family and friends. During his lifetime, he spent time as a little league coach and was active in his church. He had a love of music and played guitar and sang in a band in his younger years.
Duke is survived by his wife of 58 years, Laura; his children Christopher (Cheryl) Duquette and Michele Duquette Loperfido; brother Clement and several nieces and nephews.
Duke will especially be remembered for his dry sense of wit, his puns that made others groan, his ability to fix anything broken and his willingness to lend a hand. He will be terribly missed by his family.
