Obituary of Noreen Gulnick
Amsterdam-Noreen Gulnick, 89, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Fulton Center, Gloversville.
Born on October 19, 1934, in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Lindsay and Eva Panunzio. A lifelong resident of the area, Noreen was a graduate of Amsterdam High School, Class of 1952.
Noreen went on to work at American Locomotive and then General Electric where she was an administrative assistant. She then went on to work for the Greater Amsterdam School District, where she proudly worked various administrative jobs within the district from 1965 until her retirement in 1995. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam, where she served as a church lector and a Sunday School teacher. Noreen even volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital and was able to make three trips to Italy in her spare time. Most of all, Noreen was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, who will be greatly missed.
On October 4, 1958, Noreen married her loving husband, Richard F. Gulnick, who passed away on August 15, 2021.
Noreen is survived by her daughter, Kristina Gulnick; son, Richard F. Gulnick, Jr.; grandchildren, Janelle Bitter (Colin), Les Varin (Kelsea), Bridgette Varin (Ryan O'Shea) and Garhett Varin (Kelsey); great-grandchildren, Penelope Jade, Harlow Jeanne, and Llewelyn Arnold; nephews, Mark and Michael Panunzio, many cousins also survive. Noreen was also predeceased by her brother, Ernest Panunzio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, with Fr. Nathaniel Resila officiating, a calling hour will be held prior at the Church beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Following Noreen's services, there will be a gathering to celebrate Noreen at Russo's Grill, 365 W. Main Street, Amsterdam.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
Noreen's care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam.
