I wanted to express what a wonderful, thoughtful, touching obituary. I cannot imagine how hard this was to compose, but you all did an amazing job of capturing the meaning of Maxine's life and the true joy she brought to her family.
Maxine and I worked together at school, many years ago now, but I always loved her ability to not be afraid of telling it like it was while still coming across as caring and compassionate. She could be firm with the kids when they needed that, but they always had hugs and smiles for her and knew that she genuinely cared about them. Max was indeed an incredible lady. When we lived in Iowa, I had my first daughter, Chelsea, her Godchild. My family was in Michigan, so, she was an irreplaceable support by my side. She will always hold a special place in my heart…(Yep, she let me and Chelsea call her “Max”.)

Maxine was a wonderful woman!! She will be greatly missed. I loved getting to know her and her family while working at the DMV with her. She always brought in food goodies for everyone at least once a week. It was great to see her daughter Courtney bring her daughter Oaklee in on our lunch hours at work. Maxine would just light up when she saw them. I still make her apple crisp recipe . Miss you Maxine!!
