Obituary of Paul A. Heiser
Paul A. Heiser, 88, of Canajoharie, NY died on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at St Johnsville Nursing Home where he was a resident for the past month.
He was born in Canajoharie on June 12, 1935 to the late Fayette and Doris Phillips Heiser.
A lifelong area resident, Paul was a 1953 graduate of Canajoharie High School where he was very active in FFA. Following graduation, Paul joined his father in the operation and subsequent ownership of the family dairy farm “Heiser Acres.” When he wasn’t busy working on the family farm, he would frequent the Ephratah Dance Hall where he met the love of his life, Bernice Christman. Paul and Bernice were married on October 23, 1954. Together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage and had three children.
Paul and Bernice enjoyed traveling, going to area county fairs and often vacationing to their favorite place, Lancaster, PA. Bernice predeceased him in 2011.
Paul was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching all college sports and attending the Mohawks Valley Diamond Dawgs games.
He was proud of the fact that he was a 71 year member of the OHM Holstein Club. He was a past director of the Canajoharie Milk Co-Op, member of the Seebers Lane Grange, member of the Kitchen Konference Group Club, as well as the Freysbush United Methodist Church.
Paul is survived by his children Jeffrey (Joanne) Heiser, Canajoharie, Wayne (Renee’) Heiser, Florida and Paula McLaughlin, Canajoharie; his grandchildren Travis (Emily) Heiser, Nicole (Colin) Lamphere, Vanessa Heiser, Lindsay (Josh) Hodge, and Christina McLaughlin and one step grandson Matthew McLaughlin; his great grandchildren Sofia, Frankie, Romey, Josie, Landon, and Quinn; his sister, Lois Clouthier and his sister-in-law Sylvia Mead as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Bernice and son-in-law Patrick McLaughlin.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. Robert Farmer officiating. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Betz, Rossi Bellinger & Stewart Funeral Home Canajoharie location.
Interment will take place in the spring at the Fort Plain Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Paul’s “girls” who gave him many years of comfort and care, Debbie Nettleton, Natasha Nettleton and Heather Steidle.
