I work at the Gloversville Public Library and had the opportunity to assist John in checking out material. He was always soft spoken and very pleasant. He will be missed for sure. I am glad to have had the privilege to have met him.

Doctor Esper was my childhood and early adult doctor. He was a very wonderful man and a very caring doctor. About 20 years ago, I saw Doc at the local hardware store. He remembered me and went on to say that I had become a fine young man. I was around 58 at the time. At the age of 17 I had an evening appointment with him and I remember sitting in the waiting room and hearing the dinner time conversation with his family as he was hurrying through dinner to see his patients. At the end of my visit, he asked me if $7 was OK! That was about 1961. I was just recently thinking of Doc and then saw his obituary. He was a great man.

I remember working with Dr. Esper when I started my nursing career at the hospital on the maternity unit. He was always so calm, kind and reassuring. Rest in Peace Doc, you will be missed!!

Their is one word I think of when every I think of the doctor. That is compassionate. He took care of my parents,myself and my children. He was such a caring person. You (his children) are so lucky to have been a part of his life. May all the memories you have with the time you spent with him bring a smile to your face and a tug on your heart. I feel so honored that I was under his care.

Visited him several times with various maladies and he made a house call or two as well. He always impressed me as the kindest of gentlemen. i also graduated with son Dave in GHS class of 1970. Heartbreak and sorrow , joy and memories ,how can one express all we've shared with Doc and Joan and Family ? I was a ward clerk at NLH for years. When Dr. Esper approached the nurses station I would greet him, “ good morning Dr. Esper”. He would look at me eye to eye and say “ good morning Miss Green, how are you today”. So sincere, so caring and kind. My condolences for the loss of Dr Esper. He was my family’s doctor for several years and my mom worked as his secretary in his home office for a number of years as well. What an incredible legacy he leaves behind and a large family continuing to do wonderful things in this world. To all of the Espers.
Cousin Jed let me know of John's passing. He was such a great man.
Here's a memory. He and Joan would stop to see Tillie, Millie, and Alan late at night for coffee and a piece of Tillie's pie. Five minutes after arriving, the head would be nodding, at the six minute mark....John would be out. Joan would continue with my Aunts as John would snore softly. This is a fond memory of him.

Kathy, Jim, Chip, Anita, Nancy, and Dan,
I don’t have one particular memory of your Dad. He was a quiet and reassuring presence at home and on the sideline of every GHS Dragons soccer game. My fondest recollection is more a tip of the hat to the joyful organized chaos that was the hallmark of every time I visited. Kathy, how we ever got those high school projects completed is beyond me.
I am very grateful for the patient loving example your Father and Mother set. My deepest sympathies and prayers in your time of loss.

Worked with Dr Esper for years as the AD at GHS when he was our school doctor. He was a consummate professional and more importantly a kind and gentle man. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with his children as a teacher and I am happy to say his son the young Dr Dan Esper is now my physician.
