Obituary of Donald G. Van Allen

Donald G. Van Allen, 91, of Gloversville, New York, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023 at Lexington ARC. Don was born on October 27, 1932 to the late Clarence P. and Edna (Lawyer) Van Allen.

Don was educated in Berkshire and Broadalbin schools. He began working at the Lexington ARC in 1972, and later became a resident in 1997. Donald was a local history buff, and he enjoyed telling anyone who would listen all about the history of the area. One would never get lost on back roads with Don in the car, he always enjoyed navigating one around with a Stewart’s coffee in hand. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Don leaves behind his caring nephew, Leo (Cindy) Van Allen, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Aside from his parents, Clarence and Edna, Don is preceded in passing by his brothers, Fred, Charles, and Clarence; as well as by his sisters, Jeannine Hayes, Julia Hayes, and Edith Reeves.

Don’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at the Stratford and Mountain View homes of Lexington.
