Dear Jeanie, I am so very sorry to hear of Richard's passing! He was such a kind man.
I so enjoyed coming over to cut his hair and talking with both of you on so many topics and old memories of Amsterdam.

Sad to read the passing of my favorite teacher Richard Jankunas. While social studies was never my favorite subject I excelled in his class. His teaching made a definate difference in being bored by history and interested.
It wasn't until my youngest daughter was moving up from Middle school that I ran in to Mr Jankunas again. In fact he was retiring after that school year. We chatted a bit. I was happy he remembered me.
His wife Jeanne was a regular customer at community pharmacy where my mom worked so I was able to hear how he was doing.
Several years later when I became city clerk both Mr & Mrs J came into city hall. Chatting with them was always a highlight of the day. I knew his health wasnt the best. I just didn't expect to see his passing notice in today's paper. A sad start to 2024.
