Obituary of Mark J. Hafter
Mark J. Hafter, 67, of Johnstown, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 9, 2023, with his family and friends at this side.
He was born August 31, 1956, in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County, the son of Jacob and Selma (Cohen) Hafter. He was a graduate of Fulton Montgomery Community College and was later employed by Frontier Communications, Johnstown, until his retirement. He loved and enjoyed live music. He was on what he called the "Geriatric Tour", seeing Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and Jethro Tull within one month. Mark was the best field hockey dad that Johnstown ever had, standing at every game with his head spray-painted purple. He enjoyed local baseball games including the Amsterdam Mohawks. He loved spending time with family and friends at social events, camping, vacations, dinner and anywhere he was surrounded by people that made him the happiest. His kitties, Bella and Luna, were very important to him and he never missed a yummy nighttime treat for them.
Mark is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jacqueline (D'Onofrio) Hafter; two daughters, Jenna Capezzuti (Christopher) and Sarah Moore (Brett); a brother, Bruce Hafter; three grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, who he all adored.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Howard Hafter.
