Obituary of Thomas C. Nast
Thomas C. Nast, 72, of Gloversville, NY passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Born in Mount Vernon, New York on May 8, 1951 he was the son of the late Jane A. Evert Nast and Philip H. Nast.
Mr. Nast attended Montclair State College (now University) earning a Bachelor’s degree in Geography/Cartography. He graduated summa cum laude. Mr. Nast was elected to the national honor society of Phi Kappa Phi in his junior year and was awarded the Bert Boucher Scholarship Fund Award for “Outstanding Scholarship” in his senior year.
After graduation, Mr. Nast worked as a freelance cartographer, illustrating books (Places Rated Almanac and The Atlas of American Immigration), newspapers, pamphlets, and the like. He retired in 1997 due to ill health and moved to Gloversville in 2002.
He is the author of Every Upside Has Its Downside and Two Coexistent Realities: A Sublime Paradox.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, William R. Nast.
Survivors include his older brother, Philip E. Nast; his stepmother, Hilja J. Nast, nieces, nephews, and grandniece and grandnephew. He is also survived by his best friend, Christopher J. LaSalle of Gloversville.
