I had the privilege of writing some memories of Ann Lee when she turned 80, and I would like to share a few of them again here, as her genuine interest in others affected my family and me so positively. I became an art teacher in great part because of Ann Lee's enthusiasm and encouragement during her days heading up the Fulton County Art Show. She encouraged me to enter the art show, then inflated my head and my hopes with stories of how people were inquiring about "that new artist." When I sold my first piece at the show, I was elated and grateful. When I went back to school for an art education degree, Ann would inquire about my coursework and what projects I was working on, then when I got my degree, how my jobhunting was going. When I opened a small business, she commissioned me to work with Sunday School students at her beloved church on a mock stained glass project and later bought a copy of the first children's book I illustrated. She was always so supportive, so sincerely interested, such a giver -- to everyone. She would go into her daughter Martha's kindergarten class and play piano or get down on her hands and knees and weed a public flower bed in Melchoir Park because it needed to be done, and she didn't see anybody else doing it. She was an amazing doer -- and a spitfire. When I grow up, I want to be just like you, Ann! RIP.

Dear Ed, Matt, Sarah, Jean, and Martha,
I have so many fond memories of time spent in Gloversville and in Montana with your family. I was young when Aunt Ann Lee came into the family and I remember being so very excited about it. She brought Uncle David joy and thus brought us all joy. Ann Lee made feel so at home when I spent the summer in Gloversville, my first big trip away from home. What a wonderful woman!
Please know that I am thinking of you all. I know you will all keep spreading the love that so permeated your family from the minute it was formed.
Much love,
Linda Lakshminarayanan
