Obituary of Claudia Stack

Amsterdam-Claudia Stack, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023, at E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care.

Born on August 14, 1949, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Ernistine G. VanDerSluys Wood. Claudia graduated from Johnstown High School and went to attend FMCC. She worked at General Electric for 5 years as a secretary in the foreign farmout turbine division; then went on to work for over 18 years as the receptionist and office manager for Amsterdam Animal Hospital.

 
Claudia was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Amsterdam. She was a member of the Heralders, Bible study group and served on the Church Council of Trinity, Christian Sewing Circle, Red Hats, Sir William Johnson Seniors of Fort Johnson.

Claudia loved to read, spent hours sewing lap robes for area homes and ill individuals, spending time with her friends, going out to eat and driving her car but most of all helping others and being involved at her church.

Survivors include her sons, Jason A. Stack and Daniel R. Stack; grandchildren, Jaselyn A. Stack and Kieran H. Hooper; special friends, Debra and Rick Hitchcock, Sherri and Rob Wester. She was predeceased by her aunts, Rethea Danylec and Beverly VanDersluys.

Funeral services for Claudia will be held on Wednesday, October 25 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 42 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, where a calling hour will be held prior beginning at 10 am.  Burial will follow at Broadalbin-Mayfield Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be sent to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or to Catholic Family Services of Amsterdam for the Food Pantry.

Claudia's care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam.
