Obituary of Arthur David Robinson, Jr.
Arthur (Art, Artie) David Robinson Jr., 60, of Wilton, New York, passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2023, surrounded by family, following a battle with Alzheimer’s.
Artie was born on March 28, 1963, in Warsaw, New York, to Arthur D. Robinson Sr. and the late Susan Robinson. He was a 1981 graduate of Letchworth High School, where he excelled as a member of their swim team for four years and obtained his associate's degree from SUNY Cobleskill. He moved to the Saratoga area in 1992 with his wife and has resided there with his family since. He started working for the State in 1988 at SUNY Geneseo. Following a promotion that led to his move, he continued to work for the state in the Office of Information Technology Services for 30 years, retiring in 2018.
His passions were swimming, hockey, and computers. Artie also shared his passion for computers with his son, Timothy, teaching him the intricacies of building and customizing computers. Together, they assembled Tim’s computer, a project that not only created a stronger bond between them but also instilled valuable skills and knowledge.
Art also shared his love for swimming with his eldest daughter, Amber. He was not only her swimming instructor, patiently teaching her how to swim but also encouraged her passion for the sport. Thanks to his guidance and support, Amber not only became a proficient swimmer but also joined her high school swim team, where she proudly participated for four years, carrying forward her father's legacy of excellence in the pool.
Art also had a deep passion for hockey, and he eagerly passed this love on to his children, particularly his youngest daughter, Kim, and his son, Tim. He spent countless hours teaching them to skate, igniting their enthusiasm for the sport and creating enduring bonds on the ice.
Being the middle child, Kimberly, followed her father around like a shadow when she was younger. Her dad shared his joy of music and photography on Sundays when they joined each other at church.
He enjoyed having dinners every night with his family and watching sports, especially NASCAR and hockey. He enjoyed attending his children's sports practices, games, and all of their school concerts. He was an animal lover and always ensured his family had at least one pet in the house, but it was usually more than one.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cindy Robinson; daughters Amber and Kimberly Robinson; an unofficially adopted daughter, Sarah Kemble; and son Timothy Robinson. He is also survived by his father, Arthur D. Robinson Sr., and his wife Carla; brother, Rich Robinson, and his partner Lara; sister, Karen VonGunden, and her husband Kenny; brother-in-law Volkert A. Whiting, and his partner Jessica; brother-in-law Eric W. Whiting, and his wife Lisa; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a wide circle of cherished family and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Fulton Center, who provided exceptional care for Artie in his final months.
Art's celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 pm on the 21st of October at the Masonic Lodge in Warsaw, NY (75 South Main St., Warsaw, NY).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, Gloversville. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.brbsfuneral.com
