Obituary of Teresa Iorio

     Mrs. Teresa Iorio, 75, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 11, 2023at Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Amsterdam with support by her side following several years battling Alzheimer’s disease. 

     She was born May 11, 1948 in Casale di Principe, the daughter of the late Miguele and Amalia DiLauria Capasso.  She attended school in Italy and came Amsterdam in 1966.  She was employed as a Spool Operator at Adirondack Fabric Industries in Amsterdam until retiring in 1995.

     She enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful baker she also enjoyed needle printing and flower gardening and spending time with her family.  She loved her sweet Chihuahua “Blacky” who never left her side.

     Teresa was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.   She married Armando Iorio on August 21, 1966.  He passed away on January 21, 2020.   She is also survived by two brothers, Romelo and Emilio Capasso and a sister, Elena Capasso.   Several nieces and nephews also survive.   

     She was predeceased by brothers, Oresto, Cipriano and Victorio Capasso and sisters, Maria and Josephine Capasso. 

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday October 19, 2023 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam, NY with the Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant.   Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady, NY.  There are no calling hours.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
