Obituary of Phyllis Marotta
Mrs. Phyllis Rinaldi Marotta, 95, of Amsterdam, passed away Monday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam following a brief illness.
She was born October 16, 1927 in Amsterdam, New York, the daughter of the late Gerald and Anna (Caliendo) Rinaldi. She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.
Phyllis was employed as a seamstress for the Hanover Dress Company in Amsterdam for 19 years. She lived in North Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for 43 years before moving back to Amsterdam. She later enjoyed her winter home in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Phyllis enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking for family. Her love and laughter will live on forever. She was a communicant of Historic St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband August Lucido who passed in 1992. Husband, Nicholas Procopio who passed in 1996. In 2001 she married Ralph R. Marotta who passed away in 2013. She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter Linda Snell on May 11, 2023. Her sisters, Geraldine Tomasello, Edith Caprara, Rachael Hackert, Phyllis Sciacca and her brother, James Capone. Survivors include her two loving daughters, Doreen A. (Wayne) Wnuk of Amsterdam and Lucinda A. Padrick of Jupiter, Florida and son-in-law, Greg Snell of Amsterdam. Three cherished grandchildren, Brandy (Shawn) Taylor of Rotterdam Jct., Justin (Ashley) Padrick and Christopher (Lauren) Padrick of Jupiter, FL; great-granddaughter, Marley and great-grandson Cutler. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday October 17, 2023 from 9:30 to 11:30AM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 12:00Noon at Historic St. Mary's R. C. Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam with the Father Nate Resila as celebrant. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Truax Rd. Amsterdam, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St. Amsterdam, NY 12010. Online condolences may be made at www.brbsfuneral.com.
