Obituary of Charlotte E. Valikonis

Charlotte E. Valikonis, 83, of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family. Charlotte was born on May 5, 1940 in Amsterdam.

For 27 years Charlotte worked as a fork truck operator at the General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York. She also worked part-time at Slezak’s Gas Station at the Five Corners in Amsterdam for many years. 

In her retirement, Charlotte enjoyed playing Bingo, and traveling to casinos. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially her time spent mowing the lawn. More than anything Charlotte loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

Charlotte leaves behind her loving family, including her children, Kimberly (Joseph) Borntraeger, Johnny (Lynn) Valikonis, and James (Stephanie) Valikonis; her grandchildren, Justin (Brittany), Brandon, Dylan, Johnny, Eric, Jessica, Brianna (Jake), and Sierra; her great-grandchildren, Brynleigh Rose, Lil Ed, Magnolia, Ella, Travis, and Kyla; her siblings, Bernadette, Patricia, Carol, and Leonard, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Charlotte was preceded in passing by her mother, Elizabeth LaGrange, and by her sisters Joan and Sonya. 

Relatives and friends are invited, and may call on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 10:00AM until 12:00PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, with a Memorial Service to follow. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30PM at Lorenzo’s Southside, 1 Port Jackson Square, Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlotte’s memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078 or online at mvhcares.org
