Obituary of Dale Louis Pearo

Dale Louis Pearo, 70, of Fonda, New York, passed away on October 2, 2023 at his home. Dale was born on April 4, 1953, in Amsterdam to the late Durwood and Betty (Tomlinson) Pearo.

Dale was a proud life-long dairy farmer and loved all kinds of animals. He started working on his father’s farm as a child, later establishing a farm of his own which he named Eldalechris. Dale and his family showed their cattle at the fairs in Fonda and Cobleskill for decades. He also spent many years working for the Town of Mohawk Department of Public Works, where he enjoyed plowing snow in the winter and mowing alongside the roads in the summer.  He attended Fonda Fultonville Central School.

A friend to many, Dale seemed to know someone everywhere he went. He was a fixture at the Fonda Fair and the Fonda Speedway. Dale began attending races at the Speedway when he was nine, and he never missed a race; he was a pit crew member for many different race teams traveling to various racetracks throughout the Northeast. He had amassed such a collection of memorabilia through the years that he donated a significant amount of it to the Fonda Speedway Museum. He mastered the craft of jigsaw puzzles in the wintertime and loved road trips. His favorite places to visit were Texas and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Dale’s loving family includes his loving wife of 48 years, Eloise (nee Gunnerson) Pearo; his son, Christopher (Brittany) Pearo; the light of his life, his granddaughter Eleanor “EJ” Pearo; his siblings, Donna (Ron) Deay, Sharon Pearo, Larry Pearo, Dawn Pearo, and Terri Key; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

Relatives and friends are invited, and may call on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 15 Main St, Fultonville, NY, 12072. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10:00AM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, New York, 12072, with the Rev. Linda Gold presiding. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to townofmohawkfire.com or ayresanimalshelter.org
