Obituary of Barbara R. DePowel

Barbara R. DePowel, age 86, of Gloversville, died Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

She was born August 11, 1937, in Gloversville, the daughter of John and Helen (Aldrich) Riska. She was a 1955 graduate of Gloversville High School and a 1959 graduate of Russell Sage College, where she received a B.S. Degree in Medical Technology. 

Barbara was interested in classical music, opera, non-fiction reading, handicapped horseback riding, and devotion to her miniature poodles and cat.

She was married to Robert D. DePowel of Montvale, NJ in 1968. He died in 1981.
Barbara was employed at Albany Medical Center, Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY, United Church of Christ Headquarters in NYC, and Prudential Insurance of Roseland, NJ, where she retired from in 1999. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Sharon L. Riska. There are no survivors.

Private interment will take place at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ, at the direction of Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, Gloversville.
