Obituary of Garry A. Scribner

Garry A. Scribner, 71, of Gloversville, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023 following a brief illness.  Born in Gloversville on September 17, 1951 he was the son of the late Henry “Hank” and Beverly Ellithorpe Scribner. 

In 1969, he graduated from Gloversville High School.  Gary worked all of his life.  For 17 years he was employed at Lexington as a Direct Support Professional.  He then went to work at Runnings until his retirement.  

Garry was a member of the North Main Street Methodist Church, The Forresters and was an active Fulton County Bowler.  He was also a social member of the Sir William Johnson Volunteer Fire Company.  His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Paula; and his daughter, Audra. 

Survivors include his son, Aaron Scribner; two siblings, Carol Hall and Bruce (Linda) Scribner; three grandchildren, Melay-ah, Sophia and Raegan; nieces, nephews and cousins.  

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11a.m. at the North Main Street United Methodist Church, 316 N. Main Street, Gloversville, NY 12078 with the Rev. Joyce Royal presiding.  All are invited to attend. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Sir William Johnson Volunteer Fire Company.
