Obituary of Wayne A. Andrzejewski
Wayne Andrzejewski, 73, of Broadalbin, NY, passed away Friday, September 1st, 2023, at St Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY.
Born in Amsterdam on August 31st, 1950, to the late Alexander and Margaret (Brennan) Andrzejewski, Wayne grew up in the local area. He attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School and graduated with the class of 1968.
After school, Wayne joined the United States Airforce from 1971 to 1985, and became a Senior airman (SrA), which is the fourth enlisted rank in the United States Air Force. During those 14 years, he earned many awards and medals including the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
After Wayne was honorably discharged, he returned to the United States and married his wife Betty (Croft) Andrzejewski in May of 1987. He then became a detailer at Dimension Fabricators Inc in Scotia, NY, where he remained for 30 years until his retirement.
Wayne enjoyed reading, playing computer games, and doing puzzles with his wife Betty. More than anything, he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports.
He was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Margaret Andrzejewski; brothers Thomas “Bum Bum” and Patrick Andrzejewski; and sisters Mary Graham and Vita McEckron.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Betty; sons Phillip Andrzejewski, Darrin Edgar, Stephen Edgar, Shane Edgar, John O. Edgar, Ty and Joshua Benton; daughters Amelia Sweet and Katherine Nunez; sister Ace; 27 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Before his passing, Wayne made the selfless decision to become an organ and tissue donor and was able to donate his tissue to those who can benefit.
Wayne will be interred in the Columbarium Wall at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871 on Friday, September 22nd, 2023 at 11:30AM.
