Obituary of Joyce R. Lee

      Joyce Raymond Lee, 83, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Wednesday August 30, 2023 at the Mountain Valley Hospice Home with her family at her side.

      She was born in Amsterdam, NY on February 5, 1940 a daughter of the late Waldemar and Adella Coursen Raymond.  Joyce was a 1958 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.  She went on to graduate from the Amsterdam School of Practical Nursing and became an LPN.  She also attended the former Amsterdam School of Commerce. 

     She was employed for Dr. Tom Weyl and Dr. Michael Sheridan during her career as an LPN.  Joyce was a member of the daughters of the American Revolution.  She enjoyed reading, keeping fit and the many friends she made throughout the years. 

     On Feb. 28, 1959, she was united in marriage to the Robert H. Lee.  He passed away on November 15^th, 2010.    Survivors include her children; William Lee of Amsterdam, Lukie (Bob) Reakes of Fort Johnson and Roberta (Gregory) Heck of Amsterdam; grandchildren; twins, Kendall Lee and Chelsea (Kevin) Kline, Forrest Lee, Robert (Jacqui) Reakes and Austin (Lydia) Reakes; great-grandchildren, Kane and Rylee Kline, Regina Reakes and Kylan Lee. 

     A service will take place 12:00 Noon on Tuesday September 5, 2023 at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue with the Rev. Dr. Bonnie Orth officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Amsterdam.     Calling hours are Tuesday September 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon prior to the service at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 or the Mayfield Presbyterian Central Church, 22 N.
