Obituary of Beatrice A. Abraham
Beatrice A. “Bea” Abraham, passed away on Tuesday August 22, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam.
She was born on February 12, 1949 a daughter of the late David and Betty Markes Abraham. She was a lifelong area resident and was a 1967 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.
Bea was employed for many years as a Crane Operator for General Electric in Schenectady, NY.
She was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. She was also a member of the Town of Florida Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and a member of the Amsterdam Elks Lodge #101. Bea was an avid bowler and bowled in various leagues throughout her life. She most recently was in leagues at Kelly’s Imperial Lanes in Amsterdam. She enjoyed riding her trike and gambling at many casinos in the area. She went on various rides in support of Veterans with the VFW of Broadalbin.
She is survived by her siblings, brother, George Abraham of Amsterdam, brother, Charles Abraham (Deborah Blaha) of Ft. Johnson, NY and a sister, Clara Abraham of Arizona. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She also leaves behind her pet bird, Mr. Angel. Along with her parents David and Betty, Bea was predeceased by her companion Stewart Minch in 2021, her sister Beth Jump and brother-in-law Bob Jump.
Calling hours will be held on Monday October 2, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger and Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. During the calling period the Elks Lodge #101 will conduct a service beginning at 12:00 Noon followed by the Town of Florida Fire Department Auxiliary. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY. A Funeral Service will also be held at 1:00 PM on Monday October 2, 2023 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. John A.
