Obituary of Dolores Pereicich
Dolores “Lorrie” Pereicich, 89, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 12,2023 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.
Dolores was the youngest of 9 and the only surviving child of the late Nicholas and Antonia Vidulich Pereicich.
A lifelong resident of Amsterdam, Dolores graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1952. She worked at General Electric in Schenectady for 32 years and retired in May of 1989.
She was a diehard Yankees and NY Giants Fan and enjoyed walking, reading, crossword puzzles and going to casinos. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Dolores was a communicant of Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She often went to Noon Mass daily in Schenectady and Amsterdam for many years.
She is survived by special nieces, Gail Bello, Mary Pikul, Joan Thomas, Toni Veneroso and special nephews, Francis and Gary Smith, Ralph Iannotti and other nieces and nephews. Great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Sister-in-laws, Florence and Ruth Pereicich and special friends, Patty and Joe Bezak.
Dolores was pre-deceased by sisters, Ann Smith, Nettie Pereicich, Mary Iannotti and Virginia Van Avery, brothers, Nicholas, John, Edward and Joseph Pereicich. Two nephews, Mickey Pereicich and Jason Van Avery. Great nephew, Joshua Smith and great-niece, Maria Thomas. Dolores will be missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday August 17, 2023 at 10AM at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 50-52 Cornell St., Amsterdam, NY with the Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. presiding. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday August 17, 2023 prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN , 38105, The American Cancer Society, PO Box 1357 New York, NY 10018 or to a charity of one’s choice.
