Daryl was the kind of cousin you were very proud to call family. He was such a kind, giving, and loving soul on this earth. Every holiday I would send him a card. He was definitely "true family!" He cared about family and friends, stood out amongst our family as a very special and unique individual. Not only was he talented, but he was truly a very smart person! Daryl always was a soft speaker, and a great listener. I will miss my cousin for many reasons. There will never be another Daryl. When he did something for anyone, he did it with a "Big Ole Kind Heart!" I will truly miss my cousin who always had a smile to share, and a heart filled with love for everyone. I cannot believe he was taken so young, but I know my "Sweet Jesus" has a plan for Daryl. Only a few are chosen to fill the garden of life in heaven, and what better person to do just that would be my cousin "Daryl!" He served his purpose here on earth, and now has a place in heaven where he will continue through another "Journey of Life," and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. Daryl, I hope one day again you will grace the world with your presence, because you were not only a friend, and a cousin, but the "greatest gift" of all was having you as family because you were the only one in our family that showed time and time again what the true meaning of family really should be. Love will remain in our hearts forever, because you left a mark on this earth for goodness to follow. Love and miss you forever, Roger & Sherry Lin Bornt

I'm so saddened to have gotten this news, but delighted to read what an impact Daryl made on so many. So nice to see what fond memories everyone has shared. Daryl was my friend for more years than I care to think about. Over the years we have had the best conversations, spent hours on the phone together and had shared some fabulous experiences. Sad our conversations won't continue right now, but for now, give my love to Uncle Joe. I'll miss you, Daryl, you earned a special place in my heart, always. Be ready, when my time comes, we're still writing our story together!

When I learned that Daryl had passed, a piece of my heart broke off. We have been very close friends since we met in kindergarten. My husband, Ron, is the other one in our trio. We were so close through high school. Daryl's mom sent in the best cookies. Daryl and I both went to SUNY Cobleskill and I rode home on Fridays sometimes with him. That was the first time I had ever gone 100 mph...back country roads... I didn't like it. Ron and I married in 1975 and had good times with his parents at their house. Sweet people and very kind. Daryl portrayed several characters and as Ron told, we helped him at times. He was Santa at Johnstown Mall early '80's. I was his Elf taking instant Polaroid pics of kids on his lap. One day, we were late. He hurried to get the costume on behind a large screen he had so he forgot the pillow needed this belly. He came out from the screen saying "Ho, Ho, Ho!" His britches dropped to his ankles and I hurried to get him behind the screen and get that pillow in place! Those days were the best in my life. Whenever we 3 were together it wonderful. He was gentle, soft spoken and loving. Our kids and dogs loved him as we did. He was a special, one- of-a- kind sweet heart and I will always cherish him. This photo is his Easter Bunny drop in at our house April 1988. Wizzie also popped in many times. Daryl, you know we loved you...see you in Heaven some day. XO

I was overcome with heartfelt sadness when I heard about Daryl. He and I were the best of friends all thru our school years. From playing pool at his or my house when we were kids, or being members of Stockaders years ago, and being on the school bowling team together, we raised a lot of hell and had a great time. I even agreed to be the Easter bunny for him while he was Wizzie for shows at Macy's in Colonie. As we got into bowling leagues together for many years, we also had good times. We went out to Rochester for a bowling tournament in his new AMC AMX when it broke down near Syracuse. We got to the local AMC dealership and he told them we were pro bowlers heading to a tournament in Rochester and managed to get them to supply him a loaner car to save our weekend. Unfortunately, as life progressed, we followed our own paths and saw each other less and less... I hadn't seen him in many years which I very much regret. My condolences to all his family and friends...I will truly miss my good friend.
