Obituary of Myrna R. Longhenry
Myrna R. Longhenry went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2023, after a battle with a brain tumor. She was born July 29, 1938, in Gloversville, New York, the daughter of George and Alice Cronin Shannon. She was an only child. She graduated from Gloversville High School and Albany Business College, Albany, NY.
Myrna was a receptionist for Dr. Robert C Warner Jr., retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Foothills United Methodist Church and its Koinonia Circle. She was a soloist for the Foothills United Methodist Church choir, First Baptist Church choir, and the Gloversville-Johnstown Combined Choir. She performed in the chorus of the Sir William Johnson Lyric Theater and the Colonial Little Theater. She was also a member of the Ensemble Club of Fulton County, and local activity groups like the Peppy Pinners bowling league.
Myrna was a member of the Mohawk Valley Chorus. She and her husband, John enjoyed traveling extensively with the choir throughout Europe. They also traveled to many other counties such as China, Ireland, Scotland, England, Netherlands, Italy, as well as, throughout the US. They spent a portion of every winter in Florida.
Myrna enjoyed playing games with her family, playing cards every Saturday with her friends. She loved blueberry picking with her grandchildren each year.
Myrna married John Longhenry in 1959. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until his death in 2018.
Myrna was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother-in-law, David Longhenry, nephew, Jeffrey Longhenry, a great nephew, Robert Longhenry, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Myrna is survived by three daughters, Amy Bourgea (Mike), Beth Ringer (Ken Chamberlain), Megan Rizzo (Chris); grandchildren, Matthew and Kyle Bourgea, Deandra Bovee (Dakota), Arianna Lynaugh, Tyler, Devyn and Eastyn Rizzo; great-grandchildren, Danny and Silas Bovee. Sister-in-law Darla Christiano (Mike).
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday July 25, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday July 26, 2023, at 10 am at the Foothills Worship Center, 305 Jansen Avenue, Johnstown, NY 12095 with a burial to follow in the family plot of Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, NY.
