Obituary of Joan R. Pipito
Joan R. Pipito, 86, a lifelong resident of Amsterdam, NY, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Pauline (Friers) Ruck. Joan was a 1954 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and a 1955 graduate of Fisher Junior College. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Jack Ruck, and her beloved husband, Dr. Feori F. Pipito.
Together, she and her husband, Feori, hosted many new physicians coming to practice medicine in Amsterdam. They both found great joy in sharing their love of Amsterdam with these newcomers. She was a member of many volunteer organizations, notably Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, Montgomery County Office of the Aging Board of Directors, Co-Chairperson Amsterdam Library Festival of the Trees, Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Children’s Aid Society, and many other community-minded committees and programs.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Lesley and Luigi Lanzi of Mayfield, NY; John and Laurie Bebb of Albany, NY; Nancy and Mohammad Rad of Amsterdam, NY; her grandchildren Lorenzo (Allison) Lanzi, Luigi (Ella) Lanzi, Lucas Lanzi, Jack (Jackie Bintz) Bebb, Molly Bebb, William (Sunyoung Hwang) Bebb, and Arian Rad; her great grandchildren; Madeline, Maxwell and Marguerite Lanzi; and her much loved cousin Nancy Vertucci and her family.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at 4p.m. at the Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Dr. Bonnie Orth presiding. Relatives and friends are invited to call prior to the service, beginning at 2pm at the funeral home.
Private burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
