Obituary of Leland C. Kimball

Leland C. Kimball of Fonda, 92, passed away on July 4, 2023, at home because he did it his way. He was born in Fonda to Magdalene {Getman} Kimball and Ralph C. Kimball on July 19, 1930. On March 29, 1951, Leland married Marilyn J. King.

For many years they owned and operated Kimball’s Florist Shop in Fonda. Leland also served as Postmaster in the Fonda Post Office for several years before his retirement.

Leland served in the enlisted Reserve of the U.S. Army in the 1950’s and in his later years he served on the board of the Evergreen Cemetery Association, serving as president for several years. Additionally, he was treasurer of the F.O.N.D.A group and was active in the Glen Mohawk Seniors.

Leland is survived by his three children; Terry Kimball (Sheila), Linda Law (James), and Robin Murray; his seven grandchildren; Kylie McPherson, Aaron Kimball, Micah Kimball (Lynne), Daniel Murray (Emily), Kevin Murray, Megan Murray, and Colin McGowan; and five great-grandchildren Avery McPherson, Andrew McPherson, Annabelle Kimball, Baxter Kimball, Casmir Kimball. In addition, he is survived by extended family members and friends; Gloria Kimball, Jerry and Kathy Krieger and to his aides Kristina Santibianchi, Sara Musto, Kelly TenEyck, and Deborah Millington. He was predeceased by his parents and his two grandsons; Scott D. Petterson (with whom he had a special relationship) and Shane McGowan (Erin).

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072.  A calling hour will take place prior to the funeral services at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the family plot of the Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
