Obituary of Anna R. Elgar
Fultonville- Anna Rosalie Elgar, 101, of Fultonville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Born on October 4, 1921 in Zamutov, Czech Republic, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Klapak) Kopko. Anna and her family came to the US in 1924, residing in Garfield, New Jersey, where she attended local schools and went on to work at Stella Knits Company. It wasn’t until 2014, when Anna moved to Fultonville. Anna was a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Church. She loved to knit, crochet and play Bingo. Most of all, Anna was a loving mother, grandmother and friend; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Anna is predeceased by her beloved husband, whom she married on August 21, 1941, George Louis Elgar, he passed on April 24, 2000; her daughter, Barbara DiNichilo; brothers, Joseph and Emil Kopko; her sister, Mary Gazdus.
She is survived by her daughter, Georgeann Wagoner (Donald) and her son, George J. Elgar; grandchildren, Barbara Anne, Gerald, Joseph, William, Patrick and Paige Ann; great-grandchildren, Chelsa, Jenna, Vanessa, Lisa, Joseph, Michael, Caleb, Austin and Brayden.
A funeral service for Anna will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 12pm at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, where a calling hour will be held prior beginning at 11am. Burial will be held at a later date, where she will be buried with her husband in New Jersey.
