Obituary of Robert Crannell
Robert Crannell, age 96, of Gloversville passed away Thursday evening, May 11, 2023 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville.
He was born November 16, 1926 in Broadalbin, the son of Robert Crannell and Lydia (Sherman) Crannell. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII, and was employed by several businesses, Mayfield Central School as a mechanic, DeGolyer Lumber Co., Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills, K.C.Canary, Inc.,and most recently Beltrone Construction of Albany.
He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening and watching Uconn basketball.
Robert was of the Presbyterian faith.
He is survived by five children, Linda Smith (Dave), Timothy Crannell, Shelley Crannell, Jeffrey Crannell (JoAnne), and Carol Bruyn; a step-son, Hardy Hoppenworth (Virginia); 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers; Richard Crannell and Charles Crannell; eight sisters, Clara Christopher, Dorothea Crannell, Abbey Bennett, Helen Savacchio, Francis Male, Eleanor Cole, Mylia Small and Azubah Manchester.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
