Obituary of Thomas J. Kowalski
Thomas J. Kowalski, 88, of Amsterdam, NY passed away on April 30, 2023.
A lifelong area resident, Tom was born on April 13, 1935 the son of the late Joseph and Katerine Silka Kowalski. He was a 1953 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. On October 23, 1960 he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Bojarski, and together they raised two sons in their Hagaman home. He was a volunteer fireman with the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Company for 57 years.
Tom served proudly in the US Army and was employed at the Naval Processing Center in Scotia, NY. He later worked for Watervliet Arsenal where he achieved the position of Supervisor of Painting and Processing. After retiring from the Arsenal, Tom worked for the Broadalbin-Perth School District as a bus driver for 20 years.
Growing up he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing and backpacking throughout the Adirondacks.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Carol; son Michael Kowalski; and brother George Kowalski.
Tom is survived by his son Brian Kowalski; daughter-in-law Deanine Kowalski; his grandson Mitchell and wife Kaylee Kowalski; his granddaughter Caitlin and husband David Ericksen.
He made an impact on so many people’s lives as a friend, bus driver, brother, husband, father, and grandpa. He will be forever missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 4p.m. until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
Private burial will take place with military honors at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department.
