Obituary of Frances Hallenbeck

Amsterdam – Frances Hallenbeck, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.

Born on June 8, 1947, in Amsterdam, a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Buczek) Lech. A lifelong resident of the area, Frances graduated from Amsterdam High School, went on to complete classes at Mildred Elley School and retired from General Electric after 35 years.

She was a member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Amsterdam for over 46 years. Frances loved going to Casino’s, most of the time she’d be seen at River’s Casino weekly. She was also an avid lover of CP’s Family Restaurant in Hagaman. Most of all, Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, friend and so much more; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Debbie Brock (Busch) and Amy Grogan (Thomas); grandchildren, Vincent (Amanda), William (Bre), Amanda (Mark) and Ashley; step-grandchildren, Liza (Kevin), Elizabeth (Josh) and Austin; 10 great-grandchildren; her friend of 75 years, Anne Frank; 2 nephews and many cousins. Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by her brother, Robert Lech.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 1pm until 4pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. A funeral service for Frances will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 10:30am with Fr. Neal Longe officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam.
