Obituary of Richard A. Altieri, Jr.

Richard A. Altieri, Jr., of 74 Minaville Street, Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2023 with his family by his side.  Born on May 24, 1951 he was the son of the late Richard A. Altieri, Sr. and Edith Caprara Altieri.

 

A lifelong city resident, Rich attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1969.  He was employed at the family business, Altieri’s Auto Body and PPG Industries.  He later formed his own consulting business, helping many Auto Body Shops throughout the industry, through the Auto Body Association.  He was well respected and liked by many of his colleagues.

 

On June 3, 1973, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gail LaBate Altieri.  Together for nearly 50 years, that built at home surrounded by love and were blessed with four children.  Throughout his life, Rich encountered many trials and obstacles.  Always having faith and enthusiasm, he faced everything with a positive outlook and a smile.  He loved his family unconditionally, and was committed to creating a better life for his family.  Rich succeeded in creating a lasting legacy of love and understanding.

 

He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Altieri.

 

Survivors include his wife, Gail; his three children, Richard Altieri and his wife Meghan, Tricia Altieri and Michael Altieri and his wife Brittany; his six siblings, Anita Altieri, Karen Altieri, Jacqueline “Jackie” Parillo and her husband Ralph, Anne Marie Altieri Conlin and her husband Daryle, Anthony Altieri and Joseph Altieri; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Richard, Andre, Marcus, Mianna, Eva and Michael Jr.; one great grandson, Richard V; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

 

A Service of Remembrance will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
