I am so saddened to hear of Don's passing. It was an honor and a privilege to have him as my English and History Teacher and to later reunite as friends to he and Elaine. He was so intelligent and so caring and I always enjoyed talking with him when I came to Gloversville. You can be very proud of this man, Elaine and Daniel. He was one of a kind. You are in my prayers and you are always in my thoughts and my heart. Our deepest condolences to you and your family. Much love, Ericia and Scott

Mr Harris was one of the great teachers that you get once in a lifetime (if your lucky). Not only did he make US History and Government at GHS fun and exciting; he made me think, be accountable, and be the best student i could be. If he didnt recognize the hard work i put in; i wouldn't have had the opportunity to go to Washington DC and broaden my horizons.
A huge Thank You to Mr Harris, although woefully inadequate for seeing my potential and going the extra mile.
Mrs Harris...thank you as well; Mr H personified "Larger Than Life" and made speaking softly while carrying a big stick an artform. My very deepest sympathies to you and your family. Thank you for loaning him to us.

Mrs. Harris and Family,
You and Mr. Harris are part of some of our most treasured memories from Gloversville High School. From SGA to Participation in Government, Mr. Harris was a teacher, a mentor and simply the kindest man. May he rest in peace and know how much he was loved and appreciated.
Our love and prayers,

Mr. Harris was one of those teachers that one remembers fondly for the rest of their lives. I can still hear his voice from both of my government classes. He was respected by both fellow staff and students and had a great impact on both. Rest easy Mr. Harris and may wonderful memories ease the sorrow of his family and friends.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Don and I had many discussions involving history and government when we were traveling to and from Albany State as graduate students. He also showed me some of the best places to eat in Albany. As a colleague in the Gloversville City School District, Don set the standard for the rest of us to follow.

Elaine, Dan and Family,
I am so saddened to hear of Don's passing. Don's impact on my life and career is tremendous. He didn't just teach me history and government - he taught me how to lead fearlessly. He taught me how to be a compassionate human being. Neither of us knew it at the time, but he was also teaching me to become the college and university educator I grew to become. For the past 33 years, I have taken a small piece of him into the classroom with me every single day. I was blessed beyond measure to know him and to be his student.
Thank you for sharing him with us for all of these years.
