Obituary of Elsie M. Corcuera

      Elsie Aldrich Corcuera, 88, of Amsterdam, passed away on Wednesday March 29, 2023, with her loving family at her side. 

     Born on July 24, 1934, in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Fred H. and May Johnson Aldrich; Elsie resided in Amsterdam most of her life.  Elsie was active in her community as a former member of the Century Club in Amsterdam, PTA Officer, Girl Scout Leader, Den Mother, and current member of the Amsterdam United Methodist Church.

     After raising her three children, Elsie started work at the Wilbur H. Lynch Middle School in the Greater Amsterdam School District.  She later retired to take care of her granddaughter, Lauren, and later her granddaughter, Jessie.

     Elsie married the late Joseph Corcuera in 1961.  Elsie is survived by her children, Lisbeth (Chuck) Brooks, Peter (Cheryl Koontz) and Christine (Julie Loesch) Corcuera; and her cherished granddaughters, Lauren Corcuera and Jessie Brooks.  Elsie was also a special aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and May and her brothers, Merton, Warren, and Robert Aldrich.

          A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 17,2023 at 11:00AM at the Amsterdam United Methodist Church, 347 Golf Course Rd., Amsterdam with Rev. Judy Humphrey-Fox presiding.  A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 10:00AM  at the church.  Private interment was held in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam.  Memorial contributions may be made in Elsie’s memory to the Amsterdam United Methodist Church, 347 Golf Course Rd., Amsterdam, NY 12010.  Messages of condolences may also be made online at www.brbsfuneral.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
