Obituary of Gayle A. DeMatteo

Gayle A. DeMatteo, 74, of Amsterdam, NY passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.  Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 27, 1948 she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Doris Miller Litchfield.

A lifelong area resident, Gayle was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.  She was employed as a supervisor with Fownes Brother’s for many year. 

On May 13, 1967 she was united in marriage to Joseph A. DeMatteo.  That union was blessed with 54 years of marriage until his massing on June 24, 2021.  She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael Wyanski; and seven siblings.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her three daughters, Sandra Lewis, Toni Lynn Wyanski and Christine (Matthew) Picinic all of Amsterdam; her sister, Elizabeth Leonard; her cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, William, Jessica, Joseph; great-grandchildren,  Vincent, Alexa, Jordynn, Cynthia, Michael III, Mikayla, and Adam; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
