Obituary of Ira F. Green

Ira F. Green, 78, of Fonda passed away on March 1, 2023, at Albany Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Gloversville NY; on July 20, 1944, Ira is the son of the late Ira and Lois (Cromer) Green.

Ira is survived by his children Tammy (Michael Morgan) Green of Gloversville, Melissa Green of Gloversville, and George (Jamie) Green of Broadalbin. Ira is also survived by his brothers Richard (Darlene) Green of Gloversville, and Kevin (Jessica) Green of St Johnsville, and by his sister Sharon (Jack) Martin of Texas.

Ira is also survived by a very beloved friend Shirley Hayes of Fonda, and by a good buddy Christopher Hayes of Fort Plain, and by his dog Pooper.

During his lifetime Ira was an area resident of Gloversville and he was a very sociable person and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ira enjoyed spending time outdoors, and especially enjoyed taking care of his farm animals, his chickens, ducks, turkeys and goats.  Ira worked as a Factory Worker for the Karg Brothers Inc; in Johnstown for many years and was also a caretaker for many of the local cemeteries in the area for many years until retirement.

Cremation will take place at the Parkview Crematory in Schenectady, and a burial of Ira’s cremains will take place in the family plot of the Dolgeville Cemetery in the springtime.
