Obituary of James D. Marotta
James D. Marotta, 50, of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 23, 2023 at his home.
Born in Amsterdam on June 25, 1972 the son of the late Richard Marotta and Doris English. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident. He attended Amsterdam High School.
Jim was employed for over 20 years at L & M TV and Appliances as an installer and delivery person. In his early adult years he became certified in modern welding. He enjoyed joking and making the people he surrounded himself with laugh. Jim was always a fan of the demolition derby. Whether he was getting his own car ready for the big day or sitting in the stands to watch. Jim was an animal lover. Any pet of his was spoiled with treats and an abundance of love and affection. He was known to give everyone he cared for a silly nickname. Jimmy will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jessica Marotta of Amsterdam, and Brittany Douglass of Fultonville. His mother Doris (Steve) English of Amsterdam. Four step daughters, Brandie Dingman of Fort Johnson, Jamie Dingman of Tribes Hill, Christie Dingman of Fort Johnson and Chelsie Stemmler of Palatine Bridge. Grandchildren, Kaysan, Adriana and Zendaya. His sister Lisa (Chris Bouck) Marotta, nieces and nephew, Amanda, Tyler, and Annie. Beloved furry best friend, Peppers.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard Marotta in 2003. Along with his love, his “fancy face”, Diana Cary in 2014.
A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held at Loopie's Pub, 410 Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, NY on Saturday March 11, 2023 from 1:00 to 5:00PM.
