Obituary of Cheryl L. Smith

Mrs. Cheryl L. Smith, age 67, of St. Johnsville, New York, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, New York with her loving family by her side.

She was born on October 26, 1955 in Amsterdam, New York, the daughter of Thomas and Florence Siegle and Betty Craig. She attended Gloversville High School, and following graduation settled down and started her family. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Lexington Center of Gloversville. She met her future husband, Chris, in April of 1997, and they were married on October 31, 1998.

Cheryl's biggest joy in her life was her family, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren, but she always had a special place for her pets, especially her dog, Sammy. She especially loved going to Lake Placid every year for her anniversary, and camping in and around the Adirondacks.

Cheryl is survived by her husband: Christopher J. Smith Sr.; her children: Jennifer (Carlo Viglione) Clemons, Stephen (Julie Compani) J. Clemons Jr., CJ Smith Jr., and Samantha Smith; her grandchildren: Joey Viglione, Annalee Viglione, Tyler Clemons, Ella Clemons, Alec Smith, Vinny Conetta, and Joseph St. John; and her brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Nancy Siegle, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father and step-mother: Thomas and Florence Siegle; and her mother: Betty Craig.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville to celebrate Cheryl's life. 

Interment will take place privately, at her family's convenience. 

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166, or to the St. Johnsville Ambulance Corps, 14 Washington St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452.
