Obituary of Robert J. Krzys, Esq.
Robert J. Krzys Esq., 72, of Amsterdam, New York passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Born on November 20, 1950 in Amsterdam, New York, he was the only son of the late Elizabeth and Raymond Krzys. Bob passed away on the 106th birthday of his late Father.
Bob graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1968 and graduated from Niagara University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1972. While at Niagara University, he was a member of the ROTC. After graduation, he attended John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois from 1973 to 1976 where he earned a Juris Doctorate degree.
In 1977, he was admitted to the New York State Bar. He practiced law in Amsterdam, New York for 46 years. His law practice was his passion in life. Bob was highly respected by his peers and beloved by his many clients. He valued helping others, and gave back generously to the community by providing affordable legal services. He was a devout Catholic, and his family was an important part of Bob’s life. Bob also had an interest in classic cars, NFL football and following the stock market.
Bob is survived by five sisters; Penny Kris-Etherton (Terry), Sheila Elfenbein, Ramona Swartz (Brad), Mary Jane Wheeler (Ray) and Diana Fox. Bob loved his nieces and nephews, and was the Godfather to many. He is survived by four nieces, Gina Elfenbein, Caroline Fox, Meghan Smith (Adam), and Sarah Wheeler; and five nephews Ian Elfenbein, Mark Etherton (Sarah), Phillip Etherton (Asha), Derek Swartz, and Brandon Swartz (Stephanie).
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and three nephews, Jonathan Elfenbein, Christopher Fox, and Michael Fox.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Martin Kordel CRL as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
